FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO BCP MEMBERSHIPS WORK?

We are a community not for profit preschool facility.  We welcome new members and really enjoy the community vibe that we have at the playhouse. Anyone with pre-school aged children (i.e. children not attending primary school) are welcome to join. The way it works is that you pay an annual membership fee and you can access the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse for the calendar year from January to December.

On this website you can sign up via the link in the memberships tab, Once the Playhouse is full we will switch over to open up a waitlist.

We have a cap on membership numbers to allow you to have more than enough space to enjoy the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse and not have it feel too crowded.

The Playhouse is run via a volunteer committee formed each October at the AGM.

WHAT ARE THE OPENING HOURS?

The Beaumaris Children's Playhouse is open 6 days a week between the hours of 8am to 6pm Mondays through to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday. Then on Sundays the playhouse is closed as it can be booked out by members for their own private Children's birthday parties.

Do I need to book sessions? & how frequently can I visit?

The aim of the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse is for it to feel like your home away from home. Once you join up as a member you can come and play as much as you like, any time you like (during our open hours). You can  drop in and there is no need to book in.

What types of toys/equipment is there to utilise at the Beaumaris children's playhouse?

We have hundreds of age appropriate toys for pre-schoolers. Inside we have a library full of books.  We have many dolls, prams, bassinets, high chairs, dress ups, train sets, farm animals, dolls house, musical toys, baby jumperoos etc. Outside we have a sandpit,  magical fairy garden, swings, a rock climbing wall, cubby house, slides, climbing frame and an amazing shed filled with all the toys you could imagine such as scooters, bikes, trikes, building blocks, ride ons, hula hoops etc

Who can bring my child to the playhouse?

Anyone that is providing care for your child can come along and supervise such as a parent, grandparent, nanny or extended family member.

What facilities are available?

We have baby change facilities, a fully functional kitchen, high chairs and anything else that you need to make caring for your wee ones as easy as possible.

When do you usually offer available memberships?

Usually January and depending on space - July each year. We will pro rata the membership fees for July.

ADDITIONAL frequently asked questions

How secure is the playhouse?

We all know that some young toddlers like to run and run fast they do. The great thing about the playhouse is that it is very secure. We have an enclosed big backyard. At the front door we have a capture gate that is child proof and then our front door has high door handles  The playhouse can only be accessed by a code which only members have access to.

Can I have my child's birthday party there?

Yes we have a booking system available to our members to book in their children's birthday parties for a small fee. These are available on Sundays throughout the year and there is capacity for a morning party and an afternoon party. Please note there is no alcohol allowed on premise for birthday parties and no food allowed indoors.

Can older siblings also attend the playhouse? can friends attend too?

The Beaumaris Children’s Playhouse is a safe, welcoming space designed especially for preschool-aged children, from birth until they begin school. During regular drop-in visits, the play space is reserved exclusively for preschool-aged children to ensure a calm, age-appropriate environment.

School Age Children with their families can attend Saturday afternoons from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, where we are open to the whole family. On these occasions, siblings of all ages are warmly welcome to join in the fun and enjoy the Playhouse together.

Events from time to time will also include school age children, these will be advertised appropriately in the Stack App.

As the playhouse is a member only facility it is only for paid members to utilise, so the only way friends can play is if they sign up as members.

What type of events do you have on throughout the year?

We have many events during the year and they change from year to year.  Event days are included in your membership fee which is a lovely added bonus. Some of our past events include parties to celebrate Mothers day, Father's day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas.

In addition we have other event days like a visiting animal farm, fire truck visit, butterfly house, pony rides, magicians, African drumming etc. throughout the year.

how much does a membership cost?

Our 2026 membership fee is $370 booked via our stack app. It can seem like this is a big outlay however across an entire year it works out to be about $7.11 per week, which is far less than a playcentre entry, and you can visit as many times as you like during the week. If you join mid year then the membership is pro rata.

Can I have a tour to determine if the playhouse is right for me?

Yes please reach out via the contact form to arrange a time. We also have an open day each year. We are currently working on making some videos for you to have a virtual tour of our inside and outside spaces.
