We generally accept enrolments from December for the next year. However families can join Playhouse at any time during the year.
Please note: in the event where a waiting list exists for new members, our membership coordinator will provide an estimate of how long it may take to become a member.
Playhouse is open to members from mid-January until mid-December:
- Monday – Thursday: 9am – 5pm
- Friday: 9am – 12pm
- Saturday: 9am – 5pm
- Sunday: CLOSED
Membership is all inclusive and works out to be about $1 a day per family.
Parents/carers attend Playhouse with their children and are responsible for their own children’s needs.
All members assist in the day-to-day running of Playhouse through a monthly duty roster.
Members must also attend one annual two-hour maintenance session, which ensures that the facility and gardens are kept in good condition.
How Much Does Membership Cost?
Family membership costs $310 per annum (charged pro rata, up front). This helps us with the general operating expenses and enables us to maintain our great facilities, helping us purchase new (and replace old) play items on a regular basis.
Your membership is active as soon as payment has been made. Payment can be made via EFT, cheque or cash. Details will be provided within your Membership Application Form.
What is Involved with Duty?
The duty team, following a checklist, sets up equipment and toys, prepares fruit for the children’s morning tea and tidies up at the session’s end.
The roster system is the key to Playhouse’s smooth running and it is vital that all members participate. If Duty can not be attended Members are required to arrange their own replacement. Swaps are easily made via text or via the BCP’s private Facebook Group.
What happens at Fruit Time?
Everyone attending the Playhouse, during that session, brings along one piece of fruit per child. This is cut up by the Duty Team and put onto trays for the carers to distribute to their own children. A bell is rung, once the fruit is ready, and all the children excitedly gather around the table to eat various fruits and to drink water.
No other food is consumed at this time, to encourage children to try other fruits and to help alleviate concerns by those with severe allergies. (All fruit is prepared and displayed on trays marked “fruit only”.)
